Role Description:
Role
Reporting into the Managing Director, the role of Chief Engineer will take the lead in driving improvement across the business by the development of a more disciplined approach to the design and engineering activities. The role of Chief Engineer / Engineering Manager will deliver good consistent quality engineering designs and provide innovative yet cost effective solutions to customers.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the continuous development of the company's core design and engineering processes and controls
* Improve technical delivery quality across the business
* Work with the Operational Business Managers to ensure that good engineering practise is followed across the business
* Develop strong links with Group Technical & QA functions
* Set the standards for the engineering resources, monitoring capability against those standards.
* Ensure that the necessary technical training and development is put in place for the engineering staff, working in conjunction with HR
* Be the source of solutions to technical problems, working with project teams and customers to solve issues and produce innovative approaches
* Provide senior level engineering input to bid proposals, customer presentations to support effective business winning and delivery processes
* Assist the building of strong customer relationships through personal credibility and interpersonal skills from a technical perspective, advising and providing experience and specialist inputs.
Personal Specification:
Person Specification
You will be degree qualified ideally chartered mechanical engineer with experience within a chief engineering / senior engineer role within the Nuclear, Energy, Power or consultancy sectors. As Engineering Manager / Chief Engineer you will have the right credentials and gravitas to establish authority with the senior team and convey engineering competence to customers.
Successful track record in improving the application of good engineering practise and a proven ability to guide/manage/influence others.
