Role Description:
The role-
Due to a period of sustained growth within the business, this newly created position is considered vital within the continuing development of the companies purchasing function. Reporting into the Purchasing Manager, the key responsibilities of the role include;
- Develop supplier relationship with key suppliers within a defined commodity range. This will involved developing and implementing vendor rating systems and also managing review meetings.
- Develop strategies to reduce both the supply base and also work with suppliers to reduce inventory within the business and improve the flow of material into the business.
- Work on cost down programmes in-line with individual and departmental targets.
- Work alongside other group businesses on a variety of projects including group cost down activities (key commodity working groups), new supply chain / territory development etc
- Investigate potential new suppliers both domestically and internationally.
Personal Specification:
The person-
The ideal candidate will be a CIPS qualified purchasing professional (though candidates who have the desire to complete the qualification would be considered). The candidate must have a track record of success in achieving targets in terms of cost down, supplier base rationalisation, stock reduction etc. The candidate must have exposure to best practise and have real drive to meet challenging targets. You must be a real team player with excellent communication and influencing skills. Ideally the candidate will be from an automotive, aerospace or engineering based manufacturing background.
