Role Description:
Reporting into the Quality Director, the role of Quality Engineer is responsible for taking technical responsibility for the quality maturation of parts and the ongoing performance of the supply base. As part of a cross functional team, you will solve daily quality issues and install preventative measures on existing components and new product introduction as well as liaising with customers too resolve queries / issues. Another focus of this role will be to develop existing suppliers implementing scoring systems on response times, communications and PPM. Whilst developing suppliers you will train and implement quality techniques such as MSA, FMEA and SPC whilst managing the mandatory use of PPAP. As Quality Engineer you will work alongside Purchasing to develop relationships with new suppliers and assist with cost reduction exercises throughout the supply chain. Other focus for this role will be to attend business reviews both offsite with suppliers and in house with business management.
Personal Specification:
As a HND / Degree qualified Quality Engineer, you will have a background in an Automotive, precision engineering environment and be well versed with component manufacture and assembly. Previous experience and understanding of TS16949 and ISO9001:2008 quality systems is essential along with experience of quality systems and tools such as PPAP, APQP, SPC and FMEA. As Quality Engineer you will have had previous experience within a customer facing role and exposure to developing suppliers on a national and international level. A track record in building effective relationships with key customers is a pre- requisite for this role as are strong communication and influencing skills. An advantage would be given to candidates from an automotive background although other sectors may be considered where an appreciation of PPAP, APQP and FMEA has been achieved and who have exposure to 6 sigma / lean manufacturing and minitab analysis skills would be of interest.
