Location: Berkshire, UK

Industry: Additive Manufacturing

Salary: £50k per annum + bonus

Reports to: Sales & Marketing Manager

A UK-based polymer additive manufacturing business, that is world-renowned for producing high-quality, high-performance polymer components for multiple industries, is hiring a Business Development Manager.

Job Purpose:

The successful candidate will work with the Sales Manager to maximise the potential of the company’s existing customer base, whilst creating sales strategies to target new business for the company, to further exploit the company’s position within the Polymer manufacturing industry.

The role will involve a small amount of strategic account management, with a focus on growing those strategic accounts. You will be responsible for most of the new business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Create sales strategies targeting new customers and industries.
  • Develop lasting and positive relationships with new customers.
  • Develop customer awareness of the company’s widening services, including post-processing and new materials.
  • Work with the Sales & Marketing Manager on new marketing campaigns.
  • Process customer quotes and orders.
  • Ensure seamless hand-over of orders to the production department.
  • Obtain feedback from customers.
  • Conduct customer data management through a CRM system.
  • Providing sales forecasting data.
  • Understand clear customer service requirements & create specific key customer development plans with SMART objectives.
  • Planning and preparing presentations
  • Communicating new material and technology developments to prospective customers

Languages & Qualifications:

  • English, Maths, literacy to a good competence level (GCSE or equivalent).
  • Other spoken languages are desirable but not essential.
  • A-Level or equivalent qualification in engineering/business studies.
  • A technical or Engineering Degree is desirable but not essential, but a good level of technical understanding is required.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Sales Experience essential.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, ideally with experience in Additive Manufacturing.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and interpret manufacturing requirements.
  • Professional and capable customer interaction/engagement.
  • IT literate and competent with using Microsoft Office packages, CRM, Microsoft NAV 365, and Adobe CS packages.
  • Knowledge of CAD software packages is also desirable.
  • Experience at trade shows and public presentations.
