Job Description

Head of Operations (Operations Director)
£80-100k + Bonus, Car, Relocation available

The car. The aeroplane. The smartphone. Jaffa Cakes.

All everyday technologies we now take for granted and it's easy to forget that they were once, brand new.

With all these products, someone came up with an idea but then someone else had to devise a way of making them. Imagine being with Steve Jobs when he made the first Apple, (it was made from wood - Google it) and developing a manufacturing process for large scale production. As an Operations Director, how great would it have been to play a leading role in setting up that factory?

Well guess what? You could have a similar type of opportunity now.

How would you like to lead the Operations of a well-established, globally recognised company whose key customers include major aerospace OEMs?

With an R&D budget of over €30m, this company is pushing new technologies in the aerospace sector and is developing revolutionary new products which will change the aviation industry permanently.

They need a new Head of Operations to take charge of their manufacturing activities and streamline their production. The products are low in volume but highly complex with thousands of parts making up one assembly. As such, one of your key challenges will be working closely with the Head of Supply Chain to ensure the production plan won't be disrupted by non-conforming or missing components.

The NPI function also reports into this role and that's where the really exciting developments are happening at the moment. You'll need to work with those teams to work out how the new products will be manufactured and if new innovations will also be required in the manufacturing operations.

Although the company is an aerospace manufacturer, you don't need to have worked in aerospace for this role as they are keen to adopt new techniques from other industry sectors. Their main activity is assembly, so you will need experience of complex assembly operations and a green or black belt six-sigma level would be a real plus.

Don't worry if your CV isn't up to date as there's a lot more detail to discuss so contact us directly to talk it through.
