An innovative, additive manufacturing business who specialise in both material and production platforms, is looking to hire a full-time skilled Mechanical Engineer. Ideally, you will be able to work effectively with a team of mechanical engineers as well as outsourced engineering resources to deliver production-ready designs on time and on budget, meeting aggressive cost targets, and execute thorough and efficient product development initiatives.

Qualifications and Expectations:

  • BS ME from an ABET-accredited university (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years’ experience as a mechanical engineer responsible for designing a low-cost industrial product for production & long-term industrial exposure
  • Design & manufacturing engineering experience working through integrated product development and New Product Introduction (NPI) with stage gates
  • Understanding of revision control & change management using PDM
  • Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances), and their effective use in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Industrial Motion systems, Precision moving mechanisms, & microprocessor-controlled systems
  • Knowledge of various manufacturing techniques: Sheet metal, Mill/Lathe/EDM, Fasteners/Welding/adhesives, 3d Printing, casting/forging, coating/plating, etc…
  • Wide range of Mechanical & Thermodynamic materials knowledge including Metals, polymers, Ceramics,
  • Understanding of statistical engineering concepts (averages, standard deviations, Cpk)
  • Balance of analytical and practical hands-on emphasis
  • Outstanding verbal & written communication skills including the ability to develop & deliver clear and concise reports & presentations using Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint

Responsibilities:

  • Product development from concept through production
  • 3D Solid Modeling CAD in Solidworks 2016+, and file management in Solidworks PDM
  • Design for manufacturability, assembly, and maintenance including structural members, joints, seals, etc,
  • Drafting ANSI compliant mechanical drawings
  • Effective use of engineering change management system
  • Usage and improvement feedback of various engineering specifications to ensure quality and efficiency in design and manufacturing
  • Work collaboratively with R&D, Electrical, Manufacturing, and Applications Engineering functions
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally on short notice
  • Willingness to take on aggressive and marginally achievable deliverables, and to work long hours to deliver on commitments
