About the Role
Reporting into the Project Director, the role of Project Manager involves managing a number of engineering projects from initial concept through to customer handover to time and budget constraints. The role will involve liaising with planning, purchasing, shipping and operations to produce costings and schedules to be used in the tendering and bid process.
The Project Manager takes responsibility for the commercial and technical risks and mitigating both. Once awarded, the Project Manager manages the work package through the business from order acceptance to delivery. This involves managing the internal and external resources to meet customer delivery dates and key milestones. The role will also involve influencing sub-contractors and suppliers to bring about an improvement in project delivery and reduce commercial / technical risks.
Furthermore, the Project Manager will work with purchasing to place long lead items, manufacturing to expedite the bespoke equipment through to delivery ensuring projects are of sound commercial sense, maximise the profit on each project delivered, and communicate effectively the client’s requirements throughout the business.
As Project Manager, you will be degree qualified in an engineering discipline (or related) and have a hands on approach to Project Management. As Project Manager, you will be well versed in managing new product introduction projects from project quotation stage through to delivery. Furthermore you will have strong influencing and planning skills together with commercial astuteness. A background in project managing new products within the manufacturing sector is essential for this role. A recognised qualification in Project Management would also be a distinct advantage.
