An independent engineering group that serves customers in a range of industries, is hiring a Quality Management Lead with expertise in Mechanical Engineering to support the delivery, installation, and commissioning of critical equipment for a specialist project.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Review, accept and monitor the CQAP provided by the supply chain
  • Identify needs for the supply chain audits and support the auditors in the resolution of audit findings
  • Product PQCP for each contract
  • Provide guidance including contractor's CQAPs, LTQR partitioning strategies, and the arrangements for identifying and planning quality-related activities 
  • Lead the implementation of LTQR review
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Deliver manufacturing surveillance programmes per contract based on the graded approach of equipment safety function and project importance
  • Ensure overall effectiveness of ITPs submitted by the suppliers, checking them from a quality perspective
  • Establish and check planned inspection witness and hold points marked in the supplier Inspection and Test Plans, Quality Plans, Follow Up Documents and monitor their completion
  • Coordinate, monitor and improve the efficiency of manufacturing documentation review and inspection activities
  • Perform in-factory manufacturing inspection when required (UK, France, or worldwide)
  • Support the monitoring and technical resolution of manufacturing non-conformances
  • Support the review and delivery of the end of manufacturing records
Essential Experience:
  • HNC/HND qualification or degree in a relevant science or engineering subject
  • Broad experience implementing a range of quality solutions
  • Proven leadership experience in a quality assurance/control environment in the nuclear industry (or other relevant safety-critical industry)
  • This role requires experience in project delivery, preferably in the nuclear, construction, infrastructure or power sectors with a focus on project quality.
  • A solid understanding of Quality Assurance and Quality Control in major projects across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning is vital. 
  • Act as a strong advocate for best practice, and able to support and defend practical deployment solutions whilst remaining open to others' ideas
  • Experience interfacing with project teams and supply chain organisations
  • Analysis of data, preparing reports, and making recommendations
  • Ability to influence and to build effective relationships
  • Should possess a recognised Quality qualification and accreditation
Desirable experience:
  • Knowledge of the nuclear sector, ideally new build
  • Understanding of nuclear site license conditions
  • French-speaking is advantageous
  • Knowledge of pressure and nuclear nodes
  • Experience in welding, NDT, and NDE
