Job Title: Senior Quality Engineer
Location: Manchester
Reports to: Quality Manager
Salary: £38k - £40k
A company that provides engineering solutions, based in Manchester, is hiring a Senior Quality Engineer to join the team.
Job Responsibilities:
- To work with the quality team and Operations in addressing any NCRs using proven quality tools such as but not limited to RCCM, 8D, and FMEA.
- To engage and lead with Customers for Third-party witness inspection to ensure all the customer requirements are met and to facilitate the visits supported with preparing and presenting the quality documentation packages.
- To work within the value streams in supporting all aspects of the quality requirements in making improvements and resolving quality-related concerns. This includes ensuring that they comply with the quality standards within Manchester’s Quality System.
- To have a quality background and formal qualifications related to quality and manufacturing and be able to train and cascade knowledge to other areas of the business to support quality improvements
- To be able to work with and evaluate NDE / NDT reports and understand their results to be able to control conforming or non-conforming materials.
- To support and manage the quality certification and documentation for customer orders starting in the precertification areas through to producing final documentation packs.
- To work as an integral member of the Quality team to support internal auditing and support external notification and customer/supplier visits/audits.
- To evaluate and audit current processes on a regular basis and drive quality improvements.
- To work with and support other areas of the business with regard to supplying technical support and assistance on matters of quality control and assurance.
- To work with other areas of the business to resolve customer complaints. Ensuring that true root causes are understood and correct.
- To be the face of quality on customer projects. Working with the multi-functional team to deliver a complex customer order, looking after the quality from cradle to grave, including ITP preparation, witness inspections, and complex documentation.
- Drive and support supplier quality processes.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Good Mechanical Engineering background to a level of HNC preferably to have a valve (ASME) / pressure vessel and materials knowledge. To be able to use Inspection/measurement tools to a competent level, preferably time served Quality within a manufacturing engineering environment.
- 5 years plus previous quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Good working knowledge of SAP and MRP systems
- Lean / 6 Sigma
- Excellent customer focus, with the ability to work with a large number of external stakeholders.
- Competent with MS Office and other computer-based databases and programs to enable the use of Global Emerson tools and internal bespoke tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a demonstrated background in fixing quality problems.
- Good quality and organization skills and general housekeeping
- Good team member supports the companies’ external approvals and is able to work on their own initiative
- Preferable to have internal audit experience to support the company's ISO 9001 approval.
- Be competent to read and understand Engineering Drawings and specifications and be able to convey this information to others/suppliers.
- To engage in continuous improvement to strengthen the quality techniques, processes, and quality systems within the business.
